Hi, I DPed and edited this video recently:

Again, the FS100 responded very well in every situations, at 2600 feet deep, using just small battery powered LEDs, sometimes à 8000 ISO, in the helicopter, doing timelapse.

It's still a wonderfull camera. Let me know if you like it, and do not hesitate to ask questions!

Excellent work.

Had this been shot on a F5 would the client a) have noticed and b) happy to pay extra for the privilege?

J-P, your work just shows what an amazing bang for buck the FS100 still is.

Thanks Damien!

Nirv: The client would not have seen any difference, I don't think so. And in my area, it would be difficult to stay competitive with a 15000$ camera.

Great Video! I would have liked to hear some natural sound breaks in there somewhere...Nice work with the FS100!

Good video, nice shots. Nice music as well! Really keeps the edit flowing. Is that composed for your video? Or where did you find this?

Good work, the shots look great and I like your editing style.
Glad to hear the audio has had some attention paid to it as well, great VO talent, recording and mix. Really makes a difference.

Excellent video! It nice to finally see a corporate video done correctly. The only suggestion I can make is to add some natural sound into the mix. It makes a big difference. Congratulations once again!!

Thank you all for your comments! wow!

For those who asked, the music used is a Royalty free track licensed from Killer Tracks.

There is two reasons why there is no natural sound in the video. First, due to space constrains, only me and the director were allowed to go deep down in the mine. There is no place for a soundman. And the ambian sound capted by the onboard microphone was unusable. In the mine, ventilation and water pumping are very noisy. We have to wear earplugs continusly. Same thing apply to the industrial complex where the niobium is transformed. So noisy, nothing to do with camera sound.

So the director prefered that we use no sound at all.

Oh, and yes, AVCHD. I have done some tests when I originally purshased the FS100 back in june 2011 and concluded that there was no advantage for my workflow by using an external recorder. By the way, I just finished DPing a feature film for kids which will be released directly to blu-ray and DVD. The colorist, who have worked on the prores converted files, enjoyed the process and never thought that the footage originated from a 5k$ camera.

Solid and informative. Nice variety of shots. Wanna share your lens selection? Looks like you were wide open much of the time.

Voodeux: Everything in canon mount, via Metabones adapter.

Tamron 10-24 in the helicopter. Not a great lens, but the Widest I had on hand. Does wonders on helicopter.

Down in the mine: Rokinon 14mm, 35mm and 85mm

Outside and in the indistrial complex: mainly Canon 17-55 IS and 70-200

Thanks for the comments!
