FS100 at 720p/24pn

I just updated the software on my FS100 so that I could record in 720p mode. I haven't used the Firestore for a year and can't seem to get the setup right so that the HVX200 and FS100 are in synch. I seem to be following the set-ups in both the HVX Manual and the FS100's.

When I press Record on the hvx, the time code does not move on the FS100. Thus, they are not lonked, synched or whatever you would call it.

Can someone lay out for me the steps for proer setup? I'm embarrased to have to ask but I have an important interview tomorrow and I need the extra storage space.

Thanks. Peter

Peter-
I just successfully upgraded to v04- but i am also unable to get the fs100 to record + roll timecode. Did you figure out the problem?
sorry i dont have a solution for you

would that I had

would that I had

I just did the 4.0 upgrade to no avail. I'm trying to get in touch with my DP from a shoot last year at 1080i and see if he has any ideas. If he does I'll test them and let you know.:Drogar-Thinking(DBG

Jon, I worked it out. And I imported it into Avid Express Pro to test and it works.

The two settings that you need to make sure of are:
1) have the camera set to "720p/24p" not 24pn; and
2) the FS-100 should be set to "P2 PN" not just P2.

Once I set it up that way the time code rolled and it recorded.

Hope this helps.

Peter:)

Just upgraded a friends fs100 to v4 today and would like to add if you want to record variable frame rates you have to have the UB mode in the record settings page set to varable frame rate.

Then set the vfr mode to 24p or 30p in the setup page of the fs-100.

Is there a difference between recording with a VFR of 24 with the VFR Mode turned off or having a VFR of 24 and having the VFR Mode set to 24p? Just curious. Id like to leave it on variable frame rates all the time and just switch my frame rates at will.
