I have. Have more oonfidence in Sony fulfilling their promise. Do note that the way I read it this is just an extended 2 year warranty for the 1 year limited liability part (total of 3 years), and is not the same as the initial 90 day parts and labor warranty. So they only pay for parts the way I read it, if you see labor in there I would like to hear about. They also will charge you $14.00 state tax. Had a terrible time purchasing it online--I was using Internet Explorer, finally was able to get the purchase completed using Mozilla Firefox.

Any 3rd party warranty business can be here today and gone tomorrow, where is the assurance in this world today, didn't B&H once work with some other business in selling warranties?

I'm going to stop reading the forums, and happily film away artistically for the next 30 years, in blissful ignorance of what the world is chasing. No more upcoming historical announcements from Canon to deal with.

What for? .. in 3 years it will be obsolete :)
Serge your postings on this and canon c300 threads claiming fake this and obsolete that make it seem that you're conflicted about your purchase and fear better tech than what you have. Calm down and except things for what they are.

if you see how fast everything changed and still belive that in 3 years we don't see something new - it's up to you... but I just don't recommend to waste money to any "extended warranty"... if you don't like it - fine, but why you against my OWN opinion about fake sample on Canon C300 ? If I see fake - I see it... and if I want to say something - I have my right to do it.... no matter what "SEEM" to you ...or I have to not coming to this site anymore?? :lipsrseal

We all know there will be better cameras 3 years from now thats no mystery to anyone. How do you know no one will be using the fs100 3 years from now? People are still shooting standard definition, thats much more than 3 year old technology. Have you noticed the DVX100 threads?. For some the FS100 will have many years of life because they're not obsessed with being bleeding edge.

Also go to that c300 thread where you posted fake and explain how you know its a fake. Give some proof. Don't say fake and then run away when you make that kind of accusation. Seems theres valid proof that its not fake.

Opinion is one thing accusing someone of faking a test is something more serious.

This is your post from the c300: "What? It was there 2 weeks ago.. and it's faked .. a specially part on 1:47 .. it was discussed 100 times... and I don't like it ..."

Explain yourself and bring proof, very easy.

I got the fs100 about a month ago and added the B&H Photo warranty. I'm not sure what you're looking at for 139.00 I paid $420 for 3 yrs. But also be aware that a manufacturer warranty extended or not will not cover accidental damage, this was my main reason for getting the B&H warranty. I'm sure everyone has heard horror stories of third party warranty companies but I believe B&H works very hard to use the best out there. Personally I would rather gamble with $400 dollars than nearly $6000. I can sorta take the $400 hit another six grand might sink me. Good luck with your purchase.

My EX1 is approaching its' 3rd birthday and I can't imagine getting rid of it. I'm saving to get a FS100 and I'll absolutely be getting the Sony extended warranty. It saved my butt a couple times with the EX1.

thxdave, I assume they paid for parts only on your EX1, in general what percentage of the bill was labor?

Kraut, I have to apologize and correct myself. While I would still buy the Sony Extended warranty again, I had to pull my repair receipts to refresh my repair history memory a bit. My EX1 had EVERY problem known to this model, but they all happened in the first three months of ownership. I bought the camera in April of 2008 and by July of that same year, it had been back to Sony for repairs 3 times. I'm on my third lens! So, I never really tested the extended warranty. What exactly does Sony cover during the extended coverage period? Again, apologies for my inaccuracy.

I believe it will cover parts only, not labor, since it is an extension of the 1 year limited liability warranty.

I finally found the original "3 Year Limited Product Warranty" and found this line which I'm not sure how to interpret:

"Please note that any standard parts warranty periods based on usage (boldface mine) are not extended by this warranty."

What exactly does "usage" mean apart from the obvious?

LOL .. :) ... That mean: Pay as much as we able to take from you, ... "f. y. and be happy" :)

LOL.....it was just SO odd. They put that sentence all by itself. And what else would they expect you to do but "use" the camera. Very weird wording. No matter. The camera has worked flawlessly since that last visit to the shop. But, during all that mess, I was thankful to have the warranty IF the camera was going to have prolonged issues. So far, it looks like the FS100 is doing well apart from those loose front ring reports.
