FS: VariZoom VZ-TFT7U 7" Widescreen

An interesting question. I also have an HVX200a, but never tried using it with the Varizoom. I'm sure it will work fine for shot framing and composition, especially as HVX has the native 16:9 widescreen feature, but not sure if it will send the focus assist info out to monitor.

I have used HVX200a numerous times with an HD monitor hooked up on component cables, and it did NOT send the FOCUS ASSIST box out, although it will send all other info like action safe, title safe, zoom etc.

I think the HVX might send out Focus Assist via HDMI to hi def monitors- but you'd have to ask Barry Green or Jan Chritendon or some other guru like that or check the HVX book... I know the Varizoom uses component cable- so my guess is a NO on the question of focus assist transfer. Unless it is one of those secret menu buttons that no one has told me about yet... :-)

Thanks,

Douglas

I mean, is the screen high enough resolution to accurately judge HD focus when using a 35 adaptor? I'm not worried about focuc assist as much

Man, I wouldn't judge focus assist using the HVX LCD (without hitting the FA button), let alone an SD monitor softened up by a 35mm adapter as well. I think FRAMING is fine, but I would say NADA on focus assist.
