I have a bit about these monitors, what would it take to calibrate it correctly?

You would just calibrate it in the normal fashion, with a calibration device and software etc. Only difference is you have to leave CRTs on for about 2 hours before they fully "settle" so if you calibrated it as soon as you turned it on you would later get pretty strange results

The more I read about these FW900 the more attractive they become ... So I assume you are satisfied with results you have achieved while grading on this?

Is it suitable for field work also? ( Beside takeing the weight issue into account ) Or is it primarily a studio monitor?

I've been very satisfied. Its a great monitor. The things that would count against is for field work are:
1) weight. Its not just heavy....
2) that two hour thing. For the first 20 mins/ half hour it is quite noticably different in terms of black levels epspecially. This has never bothered me editing or grading or whatever, cause I just have my machine wake up an hour before I start working but it might be annoying on set. Also the input is 6 BNCs...
