FS: Quickstream DV QSDV-360

Hi there, we have a small film studio in the UK and bought a Quickstream DV 6 hour hard drive unit about a year ago. We have hardly used it and so I am looking to sell it on.

I'm not sure what price to ask for it as UK prices differ from international ones so if anyone can offer a reasonable price, I'd very much appreciate it.

The item description is available here:

http://www.mcetech.com/quickstreamdv.html

It's the 6-hour version priced at $999 new on that site.

The condition of the unit is very good, there are a couple of very minor scratches in the rubber and plastic enclosure but it works very well. It will come boxed with a firewire cable, US power supply (it also charges over firewire), camera mount, belt clip and the software disc (when I find it ;)).

Hmmm, I can't find the software CD but the software is available on their site for free for Mac/Windows. I can burn this onto a CD for convenience if the original CD doesn't turn up.

If anyone has any queries or wants to suggest buying or delivery options, feel free to PM me.

QSDV-360 - Offer with conditions

Hi Kinetic,

1. Is your version PAL compatible, or is it specifically NTSC?

2. I'm in Australia, you'd have to post it international.

3. Still got the hot-shoe adapter and belt clip?

4. I would be happy to download the quickstream software.

5. If hardly used, how did it get the scratches?

**Sorry to be a hard case, but can't afford to throw money away as I am sure you can appreciate.

If all of this is cool, my offer is $450 USD incl. postage. (Currently $530 AUD).
Not too shabby considering you can now buy new for about $800USD if you shop around.

Thanks... please let me know.

All of the models record both NTSC and PAL:

International postage shoudn't be a big problem as the box is small but I'll have to check out how much that would cost.

3. Still got the hot-shoe adapter and belt clip?

Yes, I'll see if I can take some pictures of the whole thing tomorrow and let you see what parts come with it and the condition.

5. If hardly used, how did it get the scratches?

The camera people we have like to put everything in a bag together so my guess is it got put in beside the camera. The scratches are just on the plastic bit that protrudes above the top of the device with the MCE logo on it and some on the bit where it screws to the camera.

Not at all, I understand.

Thank you very much for making an offer. I was hoping to get a bit more as I'm sure we paid at least £450 ($900 US, $1,062 AU) only about a year ago and like I say, it's hardly used. I was hoping for closer to £300 ($600 US, $708 AU) including postage. From looking at some delivery sites, it seems posting to Australia is the most expensive from where I am so the item cost would be £275 ($550 US, $649 AU) and £25 ($50 US $59 AU) for delivery.

I'll discuss it with my colleagues and I'll check out international shipping costs and get back to you. Hopefully I'll have some pictures too. Thanks again for the offer.

Hey Kinetic,

thanks for the prompt reply. You're obviously one of the good guys, so I'm prepared to refine my offer. And don't worry too much over the pics, I trust your word that they work fine and come with what I need to attach it to my hot-shoe / camera.

My previous offer was $450 USD. I was thinking of offering you $500 USD, but seeing as you are one of the good guys, I will go to $600 AUD Australian Dollars including postage.
(Just over $510 USD)

And unfortunately, that is my upper limit. I couldn't really go higher if I wanted to.
But please consider it, and keep in mind I am going to have to source my own software, & power supply, and that the item no longer has any warranty.

Thanks Kinetic, whichever way this goes, it's been a pleasure posting with you.

I took some pics anyway, I'd feel better if you knew exactly what you were getting ;):

<- this image shows the drive, camera mount, 6-pin to 6-pin firewire cable, US power supply and beltclip clockwise from top left.

Some of the lines in the plastic are actually part of the case design, especially the inside plastic.

Thank you for your new offer, I will pass this on to my co-workers and see if everything's ok to go ahead. :)

One thing that I just discovered while testing to see if it everything was working is that the Quickstream software doesn't seem to be compatible with Intel Macs. It works with PPC Macs and Windows. It's not really a problem as the software just copies clips from the drive and the drive mounts like a normal external drive anyway so you can copy the clips in the filesystem.
