It's basic--no lie--hence the reason it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars more. This particular model mounts directly to the lens via a threaded adapter, but the MB itself is very light. It'll take two filters, though the filter stages themselves don't rotate. Instead, you rotate the whole MB as one unit, for polarizers and grads and such. It worked perfectly well for me--just don't have a need for it any longer.

Had a couple inquiries about this, so I thought I'd clarify: this is an earlier-generation Indiesnap mattebox than what is being currently offered. This is the "DV" version that will only work with up to a 72mm lens--the opening in the back of the mattebox is not large enough to accommodate the HVX's wider FOV. As such, you can go smaller than 72mm, but not larger with this particular model.

PS: Still available.

I bought this item from Colin and I am pleased with the whole experience. The mattebox is exactly what I wanted . It showed up at my doorstep the day after purchase.
A fine fellow to do business with!
