I may be interested, but I'm kinda wondering about the quality differences between this camera, and the HMC150...??? Also, is this the "A" model??
Can you just PM me with the differences(noob here), and also what is the max quality you can record on the tape, Vs P2 cards. Also, can this camera accept a Firestore HD for storage??

Thanks.

I'm going to respond here so that if I get anything inaccurate, other members can chime in. I believe the primary difference between the HVX200 and the HVX200A is the low light performance. The HVX 200A performs better in low light, but unless you plan to shoot primarily in low light, i don't think you'll notice too much difference... Here's an actual comparison by one of the members of this board: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...s-HVX200a-a-side-by-side-low-light-comparison

I shot this video with my HVX200 and low light performance was pretty sweet to me. http://www.vimeo.com/2364654

I've never done a comparison with the HMC150, but I believe that's the SD card version of this camera in a slightly smaller body.. I think you'll find it's a matter of quality codec vs convenience of the SD card format.

I've never used the Firestore HD, so I have no idea what it does. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I'm going to do a bit more research to see what I can find on my own as well.
As of right now, I'm leaning towards the HMC just because of the cost of the P2 media.

Here's a useful comparison... http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=38207

Main difference I see is that the HVX200 is 4:2:2 colorspace while the HMC150 is 4:2:0. Same optics, different compression.
Also, the HVX200 has variable frame rate (for under and over cranking) that you can adjust in camera instead of having to do that stuff in post.

If you watch my wake boarding video, I do a lot of both (under and over cranking) and you can see that it's a pretty nifty feature to have.
