I've gone through this, to the 7D, to now the AF100 so I feel this little guy needs a home. He has been a great consumer camera and is a lot of fun to play with. One of THE BEST image qualities on a burrito cam by far.
I started building the gg-holder VH-57X v2 35mm adapter. EVERYTHING you need is included, however, you do need to put together the connection to the battery for the vibrating ground glass that is inside the tubes.
This means that this includes the ACROMAT lens, adapter to attach to the front of the HV30, inside the canon ground glass is already installed, and I also put in a UV filter in front of the ground glass to protect it.
These tubes are CANON tubes so an EOS lens will attach to the front. HOWEVER, most EOS lenses do not have IRIS control. I'd recommend getting the nikon to eos converter and put something like a 50mm F1.8 nikon lens. NOTE: Neither the adapter NOR the lens come with this.
In addition to the items that came with the camera (and there are a lot more than what is in the picture, I just wanted to show what the 35mm adapter looks like), I am throwing in:
- 5 DVC tapes, unopened
- 4Gb memory card for photos and such
- Random parts for a follow focus I started building, a lot of work is needed, but something to start playing with (includes knob, gears, gearbox, plate to draw on).
Remember, you do need a bit of electronics knowledge if you'd like to get the 35mm adapter completely working, and some solder! You want it to vibrate so you don't see the grain of the ground glass (although you can experiment with the DoF with the grain). Basically you will be hooking up a switch and some power leads from a battery adapter and a small rheostat to control the speed.
Here is more details on the adapter construction:
