FS: Cinevate Durus Follow Focus

Are these the gears that Cinevate updated because they got slipage between the inner and outer gear rings. They don't look like the current ones on their web site.

Hey Stephenh,

Cinevate did recently update their Follow Focus Gear Rings to a different model a few months back. The Follow Focus Gear Rings that are included with this package are the ones that I received when I purchased the Follow Focus this past summer and are the previous generation.

I did not have any problems with this slipage problem when I used them though. I was not aware of this issue until you just mentioned it. Also, the new Follow Focus Gear Rings from Cinevate have a problem that the previous generations ones did not have. That is that the new ones are much wider than the previous and this can result in the Durus Follow Focus gear box hitting the camera/adaptor unit. It was because of this reason that I did not update to the new rings. With that said, I suppose that both Gear Ring designs do have slight design flaws. However, in my experience I had no issues with the ones included in this package.

Please let me know if there are any other questions or concerns that you may have.

Best Regards,
Travis.

Hi Travis,

I know tha Cinevate now uses plastic tips on the screws that fasten on the lens barrel. How did you find these metel one's, any marks or damage to the lens barrel, and what type of lens did you attach them to.

So Travis, are you sure you don't want to sell me the three old style rings? I sent you PM's about buying it and haven't heard back from you yet. I can pay $90 for the three rings - just almost the same price as brand new.

Stephenh, or anyone who is interested in the new style gear ring, I have THREE for sale. I just bought 9 of them from Cinvate last week, then I realized they are too wide for three of my shorter lenses. If you want I can sell you the rings at the same price I bought them $32 each - shipping included. So you don't pay shipping from Canada.

Stephenh:

When I first got the Follow Focus Gear Rings, I went to attach the first one to my Nikon manual prime lenses that I was using and noticed that the metal screws did create slight blemishes on the lens. I was a little upset about that.

So I took the Gear Rings off and put a small amount of styrofoam/plastic between the tips of the screws and the lens before I tightened them all the way. By doing this, I could preserve the cosmetic condition of my lenses. This was a bit of a pain in butt, but I didn't mind all that much because I left the Gear Rings secured to my lenses at all times and never took them off. That was the good thing about having the 3 Gear Rings. I could see this being a bit of a hassle if you were constantly having to change the Gear Rings from lens to lens.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Jackcklam:

I did not get back to you because I am not interested in splitting up this package at this time. I do not think it would be reasonable to sell a Follow Focus to a customer without any means of pulling focus. I'm sure you can understand that.

Also, I do not appreciate you high-jacking my post with your own sale. If you would like to attempt to sell your extra Gear Rings, please do so on your own separate post. Thank you.

Hi Travis,

Maybe you should look at it a more positively. I was trying to be helpful to you and Stephenh, who expressed some concerns with the old style rings. I was in a perfect position to offer this alternative option to you guys so that whoever wants to buy a used Durus follow focus but wants the new rings can still buy from you.

Isn't it perfect if someone doesn't like the three old rings while I have three new ones to trade? To me, my offering is totally relevant to your sale and it is totally beneficial to everyone here. Just an option to help each other out. To me, it is the whole reason for filmmakers like us to come together at DVXuser.com

In another note, I did spent two days waiting for your reply, even after I sent you another follow-up PM. If you don't want to split up your sale, that's totally fair and understandable. But if you chose to ignore me, while I did mention I urgently need the gears for an upcoming shoot, that isn't very cool.

Hi Travis,

Thanks for all the information. Having a think about it. Did you just put your price up by $50. I am sure when I looked the other day you had asking a $1000.

Stephenh,

Any time. I am more than willing to answer any questions you have or make any arrangements for you. The price of the Follow Focus has remained unchanged since my original post. I had copied everything over from a previous thread I started where I was selling a lot of gear. I created this one because the Cinevate Durus Follow Focus is the only thing that had not sold in the last thread and it was starting to get rather lengthy and difficult for people to see what was still for sale... You can check out that post in the link below.

I did have to modify the post earlier though due to me having to re-upload the images. My home server crashed and I had to upload the pictures to a different sever and modify the post so that they would still show up. I'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused. If you are interested in this item and are interested in making an offer on it or have any other questions, please feel free to PM me. I'm sure we can work something out. Also, if you are interested in the newer style Gear Rings, I'm sure we can work something out with jackcklam.

Jackcklam,

My apologies for my statement earlier, I did not mean to come across as being such a dick. I would be more than happy to oblige you in your current situation if a potential buyer is interested. However, I would ideally not like to split up this package as it does create much more of a hassle for me and could create a problem if a buyer is wanting these rings specifically or is just not interested in the trade. I am sorry again if I came across as rude.

I am also sorry for not getting back to you in a timely fashion. I was considering the offer but decided to list the package as is instead. I forgot to get back to you. Sorry about that. I will let you know if a buy is interested in the switch though. That is the best I can offer at this time.

Oh yeah, Bump. Haha. :)
