Wear
-I bought the camera used (like new) condition in May. The seller said he had bought the camera, done less than an hour of test footage with it, but that he had then decided do go with a consumer cam instead. I cannot vouch for his explanation, but I received the camera in its original packaging without any signs of use.
-I have run 12 63-minute tapes through the cam (so I’m estimating that there are 15 hours on the heads max)
-I have never used the cam as a deck (use my hv20 instead)
-I have only run Panasonic AY-DVM63AMQ (Panasonic Master Quality) tapes through the cam. The original seller used Panasonic tapes as well, but I ran a cleaning tape through the cam before I used it just to make sure.
Care
-Always had UV filter on cam except to clean off dust
-Always stored Cam in Pelican Case when not in use
-Cam never dropped
Condition
-Some of the paint seems to be coming off of the attached microphone cage on the left side (can be seen in picture)
-There are a few marks on the black, plastic, lens hood
-Some of the black paint on the bottom of the cam around the hole where the tripod screws in has started to come off.
-IMPORTANT: I recently noticed that there there 3-4 streaks about 2 mm in length (thinner than a hair) in the anti-reflective coating of the frontal lens element. The marks do not seem to be scratches in the glass, but merely blemishes the coating (maybe from brushing dust of the lens?). They only show up when held against direct light at certain angle. In direct light the anti-reflective coating of the lens shines green, and the blemishes turn purple/pink. As far as I can tell, or have read, the marks have no effect on video quality i.e. Unlike dust on the filter, the marks do not show up when focusing as close as possible. They also do not diffuse light differently from the rest of the lens, leaving streaks. I wish I could take a photo of them to show just how much of a nonentity they are, but I can’t get them to show up in any of the photos.
I'd prefer local pickup so that you can inspect what you're buying. I live in Atlanta, GA and would be willing to meet you halfway if its a reasonable distance. Otherwise, I'll pay UPS shipping and insurance.
If you want more/different pictures send me a PM and I'll e-mail them to you. Thanks for looking.
