Don't get me wrong, this is a great little camera. I just got it last week from B&H and was testing the waters with this little guy to see how to handle my workflow in HD with Final Cut Studio. I've only used it once and it worked out very well for our church podcast this week.

I believe now that if I can sell this and my XL2 (which is in the marketplace thread), I can go for the Canon XH-A1.

I really want this, but is the Sony HDV and Canon HDV compatible?

ex. if I were to try and s capture tapes with the HV20 that were shot on an FX1?
 
I just phoned London Drugs... which really doesn't mean anything... but they said its fine.

I just read that I think its fine becuase Canon changed their recording formate I believe.
 
If you've got this a week or two after christmas, I'll hopefully be buying this. Then again, santa might get me one before then, so we'll see.

Could you go any lower? These cameras are 750 from B&H, but that's with a $75 gift certificate.

I'm not familiar with the HV10. I was just on Canon's site and the only thing that stuck out from the get go was the size. It is actually smaller than the HV20. Not sure what else.
 
Is there any way you can just return it with such a short time purchased? Just a thought - alot of retailers have grace periods. I assume B&H would too but I could be wrong - haven't bought from them before

the HV20 has 24p cinema mode -the hv10 doesn't

Thanks Trish, you're right. I was able to get an RMA number and I will be shipping back to them today for a full refund.
