Im shooting fs700 with the 7Q and really loving the results. However, on occasion when switching to 2k high speed via S&Q button I get "preparing" for an extended period and the camera seems to freeze. This only happens after shooting for awhile and then it takes a few times switching the camera off and fiddling with menus to get it to work again. ANyone run into this issue and have a fix or know why this might happen?

I have been shooting quite a bit with 240 fps with the 7Q and have not seen the problem. Make sure you are using Sony firmware v3.01 and possibly try a different cable.

Please let us know how you make out.

Good luck!

If you using "End trigger" its because the camera need 8 sec to get ready. If you press rec as soon its ready you get the last 8 seconds which in the camera preparing at the time.

Sorry for the complicated answer.

Sorry for the miss-understanding, I definitely don't have "End Trigger" set.

From my experience, the 7Q just seems to run better when using the 7Q LCD screen to record. On the original firmware, I would get occasional hard crashes - like the 7Q would totally freeze and flash crazy colors - when using camera trigger so I stopped using it and went to using the 7Q LCD trigger, and it ran real smooth.

I just did a shoot for Discovery this past Wednesday, and I used Camera Trigger to record to both the 7Q and the SDHC card for security since it was a big shoot. To me, it still didn't feel as stable as the monitor trigger. I didn't have any hard crashes but I did have some black screens and I had to turn the 7Q off and restart which made me nervous.

To me, it just seems to run smoother with the 7Q record trigger.

Hi Gene, curious, how many times did the 7Q require rebooting on the Discovery shoot? once, twice, more in a 12 hour day?

Hi Klk,

On the Discovery shoot which was about a 11 hour day with 8 hours of shooting with talent, I had to reboot about 3 times. It didn't freeze and have crazy flashing like with the original firmware, but the screen would just stay black. This is with camera trigger. I think 2 times it just stayed black after going into the menu and one time the zoom in had a glitchy where the image would be stretched.

It actually wasn't a huge deal and well with it for the quality increase.

On a previous Disney shoot of similar length, it never froze or went black. Worked really well using the OLED Trigger. In fact, I was so impressed by how well it worked.

A huge majority of the time I use the OLED trigger and hardly ever a glitch. 7Q just seems to run smoother that way, but with camera trigger you have extra security.

Weird. I generally just use camera trigger and haven't had any problems. I think I've had a couple of weird screens, but not from using the camera trigger - usually from other functions (zoom or focus assist) or trying to play back.

Are you sure your cable is O.K.? Maybe you should send it in to get checked out while it is still under warranty.

With me I've experienced my fs700 freeze twice. This happened when on normal shooting mode and pres S&Q twice to jump to super slow mo mode and If I tapped it to quick it would freeze then if I went to turn the camera off the screen would still stay on and I'd have to pull out the battery. I've Owned the camera for 3 months now and it happend on V1.0 firmware and again on the upgraded 3.0 I then went to shoot a wedding last weekend and luckily all went smoothly but my 2nd cam operator who also had an FS700 Experienced this problem and I thought I was the only one. Anyways I haven't found a fix yet.
