FS5: FS-5 zooming by itself

When firing up my FS-5 with the sony 18-110 kit lens the camera zooms in by itself. When I use the rocker to zoom out it again zooms in by itself. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
 
Possible broken wire in the controller... I had the exact same issue with a Fuji lens years ago. I had sent it in for service and when it came back it would zoom in as soon as the camera was powered up. Turns out that when they re-assembled the grip, they accidentally pinched one of the wires and broke it. Simple fix, but very inconvenient for me.
 
I have had that, on its frst outing for a corporate. Not good but I fixed it.

Check the top handle is secured tightly, remove it and remake it tighten the screws, there is an electrical contact for the top zoon control.
