FS-4 Settings with DVX??

For those interested, I sent my FS-4 back to B&H after explaining to them (via phone) that it would not reliably record tapeless when triggered from my DVX camera. Five days after B&H received the FS-4, my credit card was credited with the purchase price. Bravo for B&H, but I still feel a bit mislead by the claimed "compatibility" by Videonics of the FS-4 with the DVX. I think I began to get a bit suspicious when reading the FS-4 owners manual, which directed me to their web site for camera-specific settings. Try as I might, I could not find any such information on their web site. Not a major confidence builder...

Barry, thanks for the above post and research. I may go the route of an external deck. Which JVC deck are you using, if you don't mind the revelation? Any specific suggestions on decks? Thanks, Ken McGrath.

Thanks for running that test, Barry. I had it on my list of things to do since running across this thread last week, but now you've saved me the trouble. We've taken note and will look into this asap.

I've got the BR-DV3000, which is the same as the Panasonic DV2500 (got the JVC because B&H had a $100 rebate on it) but if I had it to do over again, I think I'd get the Sony DSR-11 instead. I thought the audio meters on the JVC would be more valuable than they are; instead I think the ability to master to DVCAM or DV would have been more valuable.
