Kenyon Commander KS-6 Gyroscopic Stabilizer
Specifications:
Size: 3.4" diameter x 5.8" long
Weight: 3.25 lbs (52 oz.)
Power: 115 volts, 400 Hz, 26 watts starting with 11 watts running after 4 minutes. 3 hours running on a fully charged KP-6 Power pack.
Panning Rate: 20 degrees per second
Designed to handle the more diffcult assignments, the KS-6 provides almost twice the stabilization of the KS-4. Steady sequences with smooth panning from helicopters, boats or any moving vehicle is now a possibility. Troublesome vibrations are dampened out for medium format cameras or long lenses, without the loss of hand-held freedom of motion. The KS-6 is easily attached to camcorders, videotape television cameras, etc. to realize the full potential of telephoto and zoom lenses. One or two KS-6 gyros are often used for in steadicam systems. The KS-6 is recommended for equipment as heavy as 6 lbs.
This is an older model I acquired from a photographer who used it only once. I have used it 3 times so it has only been used 4 times. The former owner put it away with the battery fully charged and I have used it for as long as 2.5 hours in a single session so I suspect it is still in very good shape.
The stabilizer works very well. I was hoping to use it as a replacement for a tripod but it's not quite that good. I used it primarily with my Sigma 100-300 EX with the 1.4 TX and with my Sigma 400 HSM telemacro. With both lenses I was able to shoot accurate and excellent photos. I later tried to do some panos in poor light at 100mm with the 100-300. Again I got some excellent shots but not consistently as good primarily because of slow shutter speeds.
These are mostly used for shots on boats and from aircraft but they can also be used with long lenses in normal use.
I think the major changes between this model and a new model sold today are the battery and charger.
I'm asking $1,495.00 with buyer to pay shipping. Payment to be made by certified check or money order.
thanks,
Mike
