Fs-100

Hello all...

I am in the process of researching and am having trouble with this one. Does the FS-100 mount on the back of the HVX? I am assuming that it mounts directly to the camera. How about the batteries for the HVX? Do they then mount onto the FS?

I am trying to figure out how much weight the FS will add to the back of the camera. I will be doing about 50% international documentary and 50% narrative short. Mobility for the docs is a must.

OK, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The real issue with the FS-100 is what do yhou do with it. Among the possibilities are the JimmyBox, which will allow you to mount it to the bottom of the camera. The on-camera holder offered by Focus is not viable since the on-board mike will pick up fan noise from the FS-100. I have used the DVMultiRig (www.dvtec.tv) with its backplate. I have mounted the FS-100 on that. In fact, there is a shot on the DVMultig page of the FS-100 plus the Anton Bauer ElipZ battery mounted on the plate.

Either mounts to the hot shoe with the Focus cradle and mount or you'll be forced to come up with your own option...or hang from your belt which I find unworkable. It balances better on the hot shoe and we always use a boom pole so the hot shoe is always available. As well, there are rigs and mounts that some people have made work.
