fs-100 shipping?

just wanted to know... i'm planning on buying a hvx200, however, i dont want overpriced p2 cards. so i wanted to wait for the cinerporter or fs-100 to come out.

so... the cineporter isnt shipping yet, but is the fs-100 already here?
 
www.cke.co.uk - I've got an order with them. They told me last week - information from Panasonic. Apparently there's a shortage of P2 cards in the UK, and no P2 store at launch so they've moved heaven and Earth to get the FS100 out with the HVX so that people can still record formats other than DV25.

Gosh. We can't get P2 cards or P2 Stores in the USA, either. Maybe I'm living in the wrong country.

Spoken to CKE, the HVX plus Firestore is being delivered tomorrow. So the FS100 is now shipping apparently.
 
Sorry BigMike, I should have written "in the UK". Though you would expect them to be shipping in the US too wouldn't you.

I contacted FE a few days ago and they responded mid-April for U.S.

It is my understanding that the FS-100 wont do native recording / VFR (?)

Native won't go down the Firewire for some reason, so apparently not. Though on another thread Barry Green said that a Focus spokesman said it may take Native, but nothing was confirmed.

When you talked with FE, did they give any indication of price in the USA? Spec-comm said the 160GB Cineporter price will be US$2,000.

Update on this, Panasonic have said to our dealer that the Firestore isn't ready so won't be shipped with the HVX200 as previously stated.

This isn't good for Panasonic, getting dealers to advertise the FS100 and then telling them it isn't shipping the day of release :(

Especially when here in the UK it's looking like there's going to be nothing but overpriced 4gig P2 cards (£527.58 cheapest, that's about $918.54) - they haven't dropped in price here like in the US, yet.
 
I'd rather it was ready than I bought it and it wasn't working properly....
but Im not buying the HVX until the FS-100 gets in town, there's no point! :crybaby:

which is deeply upsetting.

Panasonic told my dealer that the product had shipped but been delayed..

but my dealer told me he didn't believe Panasonic.

Focus told my father "a few weeks" and that Panasonic were putting a LOT of pressure on them

so who knows.

anyone in for bets?
 
I think I'll probably pick up the HVX200 tomorrow though - I'm afraid of a stock shortage like in the US. They can always send on the Firestore, but it'd be nice to have another option like 2x8gb P2 + P2 Store for the same, or similar price.
 
The FS-100 will be distributed through Panasonic and manufactured by Focus Enhancements. The first shipment may be next week but it will be a fairly small shipment. April looks to be more promising for quantity. This is for the US.

Not sure of what is happening in other countries, just know what is happening here. It will be somewhat reminiscent of the first month's shipping of the HVX.

As long as I have it by end of April...

And Jan, can you tell us if the Firestore can record in native mode, I mean, only 24 frames in 24p mode?

Is the Firestore out yet? I was told by two dealers last Thursday that it's been delayed till this week, and another dealer said 3/4 weeks (but I think he may have been trying to sell some P2 cards).

Anyone any new info?
