FS-100 reformat

Is it possible to reformat the FS100 to HFS+ to avoid the fat 32 limitations? We use macdrive pro at work on our windows boxes and it wpuld seem to me that for the price of the FS100 they could toss a copy of macdrive in and make all our lives easier.

There are technical reasons for using FAT32. It can support a smaller, more compact operating system. Remember that every device like this uses an OS, just like your computer. There's an OS running in your set-top DVD player and in your iPod. HFS+ requires more from an OS. It's technical, but in appliances like this, you just can't through any old OS and storage solution in it you want, and retain the small appliance form. In other words, it's not a perfect world. But the idea is good. Linux and FAT32 make for a very fast, reliable system.

Plus, if they though Macdrive on it, there's more money they have to spend on it, more money you have to pay for it.

Sorry but i dont buy this. Ipod can be reformatted. There is little to no overhead for reading a format from disk. As for macdrive i dont think $60 is a deal killer on a couple of grand piece of kit.
FAT32 is history, ancient history a 2 gig file limit is just dumb in 2006.

You obviously have no formal IT training, eh? I'm basing my comments on 20 years of being an IT Engineer. The FS-100 can be reformatted, to. There's a command in the menus for this. But it has to be reformatted for the firmware and operating system. There IS overhead dependent on the OS and drive format. Why don't you call Focus and speak to them about it? No one here is a Focus engineer.
