FS-100 Picture Profiles

Haha, well we own one pinball machine now that I rebuilt, called 'Galaxy', and I just built a new studio above the garage to move it out of the house...which makes more room for 3 more pinball machines!!! :)

Everyone has seemed to notice the extra punch of red and magenta in this camera. I definitely see it too. If that is the case, why do all the color phase setting posted here have R and M at -2 or higher. Sometimes, they are even positive. Shouldn't they be lowered to get rid of the extra red? I might not know the concept of color phase well enough. What have you guys done to get an accurate red/magenta reading?

Thanks!

I would like to know more on this as well. I shot an event today and people are generally quite red.

Minor testing shows this effect is more prominent with the Cinematone Gamma. The default PP (OFF) shows noticeably less red. However as mentioned before, it ups the mids bringing in noise due to what it's doing.

Any recommendations for this issue? Or recommended PP for general shooting?

For reference see shot below. White balance is fine see the trailer obviously. This is with Frank's (Postmaster's) PP.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

All-

As a soon-to-be (fingers crossed) fs100 owner/operator, i find this thread very useful.

I see all of this field testing as a necessary learning curve in working with any new tool-and for me the FS100 will be a brand new tool.

Keep the sharing, the thoughts, the tweaking, coming.

We are all better for the efforts.

Be well.

Normally my PPs do not show THAT excessive lobster touch.
I used them on several projects and never got an result like this.

But I received several questions on that problem, so it seems to happen here and there.

Actually I have no answer yet, but a guess: The 3DLTU

It might be possible, that if you do a white balance - and your clip clearly shows it was balanced - the 3DLTU does some funky stuff to the channels, especially magenta.
I normally use the daylight setup and do the rest in post, that might be the reason that I don´t see this on my footage.

I will do some WB tests tomorrow - the FS100 has two WB modes, I let you know what I find.

Thanks for taking the time and looking into this
issue. It's really the only gripe I have right now
in regards to the unit.

If I can find a fix for this I would be quite happy.
