FS-100 order from B&H

I ordered the FS-100 on May 2nd from B&H. I was told it would take 7 to 14 business days to ship. Well they are about to go on a holiday until Friday and still no word about when the drive will ship. Anyone else enduring the long wait or have a clue of what's going on? This is the second time I ordered a FS-100 from B&H, the first time I had to cancel the order. Looks like I'm in the same predicament once again. My phone calls to them have just produced the same... it will take 7-14 business days to ship.

I havent had this problem with a FS, but had a tripod that was to take 7-14 days that became 1.5 months. Finally called the mfr and a few other distributors to find out what was going on - BH just kept feeding me the same BS of people looking into it. Sadly I still place orders from there (good prices, and everything I need is there usually), but I wont do anything that isnt in stock and leaving immediately.

I thought of canceling the order. But I thought it would be just my luck that the moment I cancelled... they would suddenly have some in stock. It happened to me the last time i cancelled the order.

Our web page for the FS-100 says, "Availability: Accepting Orders. Important Notice! This is not a regular stocking item. Estimated arrival at B&H 7-14 business days." We will ship this AS SOON AS we get it from our supplier. I am sorry for the inconvenience and frustration. if you email your order number to me I will try to get more precise information for you.

That's why I order from B&H right there.

I ordered my FS100 from Calumet (calumetphoto.com) and received it two days later. Unfortunately, looks like I got the last one... of course, it's useless to me right now because Adorama is dragging their feet on sending my HVX.

The same day I ordered the FS100 - some two weeks ago now - I ordered an HVX and a Chrosziel box/focus kit from Adorama with overnight shipping. In-stock status was confirmed via phone before the order, credit card was charged, bank confirmed authorization... but order status is still "pending" and, of course, they too are closed for holiday so no customer service this week.

So far, I'm loving Calumet. They don't have a huge video selection, but they process orders faster than any mail order I've ever shopped. Their packing was excellent too - my FS100 box was suspened in foam nuts within a larger box.

Good luck man... let us know how it goes.

A miracle occurred late last December when I looked at B&H, and the FS-100 was in stock. I immediately ordered it. The next morning, I received a phone call from B&H to confirm that I was legitimately ordering the item and not a bad guy. A few days later I had it, and its in China right now working on a documentary about porcelain. I'm a happy boy.

I received the FS-100 on the June 1st after placing an order on May 2nd. To make it even worse.. the drive is DOA. As soon as I powered it on it reported an error... NO DISK DETECTED. Just came back from the post office, shipped it back for a refund. I had ordered a second one from Spec-Comm... that one came a few days later and is good to go. Usually my experiences with B&H are great... just have had a terrible experience with each FS-100 order.

All of my dealings with B&H have been fantastic...including receiving my 16GB p2 card from them last week (I truly was one of the first to order!). But there have been dozens of other dealings with them and they have been honest and quick with shipment. Just my .02.

The funny thing is the customer rep asked if I wanted to make an exchange of the product. I asked if they had any in stock... his reply was no... I was like.. refund please. I've ordered tens of thousands of dollars worth of stuff from B&H. Generally I think they are a great company at keeping prices down and having a huge inventory of production related gear. I just wouldn't recommend anyone purchasing an NTSC FS-100 from them. Back in November of 06 I cancelled the FS-100 order that never came and ordered a second HVX200 from them. This time around will use the refund to purchase the Panavision 17 inch monitor from them. So I'm in no way disparaging the generally good reputation of B&H... just their terrible handling of this item.

man, ive called b&h about 6 times and each time the various cat on the phone was a total jack-hole. i've pretty much written them off - that and the fact that they close down thier website at any sign of a national holiday (of ANY nation)

WGZN...judging from your location you don't know that B&H is run and employs mainly Orthodox Jews...so it's not national holidays they are closing their website down for.

i dont know that as a net consumer im required to consider such things. all i know is that they - 6 of 6 times have either been rude or were closed when i needed something.

maybe its just bad timing. but i cant put companies who are closed mid week several times a year on top of my vendor list

Hi James,

The HVX you get from Adorama will likely be a gray market camera and will not qualify for the Free Battery/software offer. I know that Studio Exchange has them in stock in Glendale, CA. They won't be there for long though. Other dealers may have them in stock but I would cancel the order from Adorama and move n.

Best,

Jan

Public apology to wgzn...
in reading my last post it seems to be politically insensitive. It was not meant to be a commentary on Texas, only a point of information for those of you not in the NY area or those of you who have not been in the B&H store. Hopefully no one took this the wrong way.

the fact that they close down thier website at any sign of a national holiday (of ANY nation)

I am sorry you've developed this misapprehension. B&H closes for most of the usual USA holidays other retailers also close for and we close for a handful of Jewish holidays because our owner is an observant Jew. For each, we're VERY careful to publicize the closing on our home page, throughout our web site and in all our print ads for some time preceding the actual closing dates.

We understand that many people may not be conversant with holidays like Shavuoth or Tisha B'Av and we understand that this could pose a temporary inconvenience, but we're mindful of the need to keep our customers informed and take pains to do so.

See how cool B&H is; they came HERE to address your concern. How's that for customer service!

I personally love BH, I'm a long time customer. And I'm a Jew, so it fits well.

What I don't understand about the complains is that, so what if they don't ship on the weekends? Neither do 99% of all online retailers.

I bought my HVX200 from them, and my MBP, and all of my storage. I've never had a problem, and neither have almost all of their customers. There's a reason they have top honors at resellerratings.com.

BTW, I'm not affiliated, paid or whatever by BH whatsoever, so don't even try and call me out on that.

And actually personally, I'm a little offended at the complaints. EVERYONE closes on Christmas, and it's a big pain in the a55 for me, and my family. We don't complain, though, we respect that it's a sacred holiday. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the same understanding from others.
