FS-100 Import & Pulldown problem

I shot and imported exactly one day successfully with the FS-100 and an HXV-200 in 720/24P. The second day's footage will not import correctly into FCP5 -- the pulldown is not being removed, and the clip shows up needing rendering for my DVCPro HD 720P/24 project.

I have checked and checked the settings on the camera, in the FS-100, and in FCP. I have formatted the FS-100. I have throw out preferences and caches in FCP. Now there appears to be nothing I can do to shoot 720P/24P and import it into FCP.

Anyone have any suggestions or solutions? Maybe I should try reinstalling FCP? It seems that it is either corruption in FCP, or somehow corruption in the FS_100 or it's "Organize P2" process.......... Sheesh. And this was supposed to make life easier....

Thanks much, Mark. But I am indeed using FCP 5.1.1. I'm considering a total reinstall of it, though... Personally, I can't help but suspect that it's a "Organize P2" related error..... but it seems so far i'm the only one having this problem... urg.

Anyone???

Again, I have no problems with FCP 5.1.1 and pulldown. I shoot 24p to firestore, import to FCP with the remove frames box checked and my footage comes in at 23.98, ready to drop into 23.98 timeline.

Nstolz,

Yeah, and mine worked great... until this week. I can't figure it out. Can you do me a huge favor? Could you please pull up one of your XML files (in the CONTENTS folder, in the CLIP folder on the FS-100) and email it to me? -- Or open it in TextEdit and cut and paste it into a reply? I suspect that the XML files are not being written properly in my ORGANIZE P2 function, and therefore FCP can't recognize the pulldown... but now I have no way to test that...

Thank you sooo much.

Hi Kyle,

On further investigation into this issue, it appears that it is necessary to set the UB MODE (in the HVX200 RECORDING SETUP menu) to FRM RATE. Final Cut uses this information in the stream to do the advanced pulldown/duplicate frame removal. From your XML, it appears to be set to TIME. When set to TIME, FCP does not import the clip as 23.98, it remains at 59.97.

Hope that helps.

It does! Don't know how the UB setting got changed in the HVX200, but it's back and it's working. Thanks so much for responding so quickly. Focus rocks.

No, Matt rocks. He needs to express how frustrated we all are with the sloooooooowwwww response from Focus' support people. I've never been able to get a live person when I call, forced to leave a VM and a return call comes the next day at best after Matt and others have already help to solve the issue. I'm really looking forward to the new shipment of units as mine is going to be exchanged and I really hope many of my issues are to be resolved.
