FS-100 and timelapse

I had shot a few timelapses with my fs-100 in dvcpro-hd mode (1 frame per second). But the user-guide says it's only possible in dv modes. Why ?
Is it dangerous for the device ?

I was wondering the same thing. I was shooting with the xlh1 and a firestore and I didn't even have the option to shoot timelapse in hd. Is this something that will be added later with software update or am I missing something?

I believe that the function is only available when shooting in an intraframe codec (DV, DVCPRO HD) you can easily pull a single frame from the stream.
In HDV with it's interframe codec it's next to impossible to pull a single frame from the GOP sequence without a powerfull DSP to decode-pull the frame-reencode, which the firestore lacks...

Anders is correct, it is possible to shoot timelapse in DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO 50 and DV/DVCPRO modes. Timelapse is a setting in the recording menu. It is not possible to shoot timelapse when using HDV (it is not possible to record HDV on FS-100 anyway). It looks like it is a mistake in the manual.

Thanks,

Matt

Thank you Matthew McEwen vbmenu_register("postmenu_624570", true); for your answer, it's a great pleasure to know that we can shot DVCPro HD timelapses with the FS-100.
And, so, another question : Have you any solution to playback from the FS-100 and see the images on a monitor ( other than the HVX lcd) ?
Thanks,
JLF

The FS-100 does not have a built-in codec, so it relies on other equipment to take care of that. There is not too many ways to convert DVCPRO HD to analog or HD-SDI that I am aware of, but maybe someone here on DVXuser is aware of a solution. If needed, we use a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A deck for this purpose.
Hope that helps,

Matt
