Frontbox

Has anyone made a frontbox for their set up? Does anyone use one? How would you attach it to a manfrotto 501 head?

I'm looking for a frontbox bracket for you. Nothing is going to fit directly to your particular tripod, that is certain.

Now, something might be mocked-up, but you might have better luck getting the measurements (pin diameters, distance from center to center) from someone who has a frontbox on-hand.

It could be mounted via some clamping bracket to one of the legs. Maintaining a constant level mount will be the toughest part. Studio style tripod heads have the pins as a feature on the non-tilting front end of the head.

There is one possibilty for anyone with the Bogen clawball mounts. Remove the ball from the 3/8" stud along with the locking screws (which keep the head from panning when locked-off. Transfer the marks to a 10" x 6" x 1/8 piece of flat bar, which has been bent 1" in from one end to a 90 degree drop. The piece is really 11" long, but the bent 1" will allow you to locate the pins.

This piece will then be drilled through to match the ball-mounting holes and then sandwiched between the ball and flat head base.

thanks

thanks

i found the mount at filmtools, and yes, the legs of my tripod are my solution as well. I think i am going to design a simple screw mount off of a clamp. thanks again

If you can find a way to make some bends in metal (not hard), then you can take a rectangle...maybe 10" x 6", and bend the two top corners at an angle matching the angle of two tripod legs, then you can literally hang it securely on the legs of your tripod. Hard to describe what I'm talking about here, but I've seen these brackets used for all sorts of things...monitors, mixers, firestores, etc. It'd be a piece of cake to hang a paintbox from it.
