"From Still To Motion" - The Only DSLR Book You'll Ever Need

Based on all the reviews above, I went to my local Barnes and Noble to check it out. I would consider myself a middle-of-the-roader in terms of film knowledge and experience. I've been reading like crazy and practicing for about 2 years or so. As such, I feel as though I'm beyond the beginner class. Yet there is so much still to learn that I'm nowhere near the been-there-done-that crowd.

For me, there was enough in the book to buy it (although from Amazon since it's $18 cheaper). I found the book to be a nice reminder for the stuff I already knew and a simple reference for things I could probably figure out on my own if I wanted to spend the time. Either way, it seems to be a nice, concise book that would benefit most people outside the been-there-done-that film crowd.

So does it have the stadium shot? :D

I'm in Israel so it'll take at least another week to arrive. Greatly looking forward to reading it.

I stumbled upon this book today in Barnes & Noble (on sale, no less). Even if you've been shooting video for awhile, it is worth picking up for the useful workflow tips and the content on the DVD.

An excellent resource!

Never heard of the book until this thread was resurrected. Good thing, I just ordered it online! Can't wait!

Just got it, about 1/3'rd of the way through. all I can say is I feel as though this book really speaks to me. It's exactly what I was looking for in a well written, information packed book on the subject of DSLR film and all of the details you'd never think of unless you are working in the industry.

I'm a serious amateur looking to step up my ability. I shoot constantly but feel like a wandering soul without direction. This is just the shot in the arm, or road-map that I was seeking. I will post my thoughts once I am done and have had a while to put these practices into use.

Thanks again for the recommendation!

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.

The book is the #1 seller in the cinematography category @ amazon, and #6 in all photo books.

I am humbled.

Best,
