Not that there's anything wrong with that...Gross.
Buy. This. Book. Now. It's that good. And it will make your work better. I consider this book to be nothing less than the bible of HDSLR shooting.
I received my book today and kinda just glanced through the whole thing. Oh yeah, there is a lot of good stuff in there. Thanks Steph for starting this thread. I wouldn't have know about this book, otherwise.
I guess I will jump on the bandwagon too. haahah
if it's good I will get a copy for my iPad like stephen did.
I'll be devil's advocate here. I bought this book based on the strong pimpage in this thread only to find out that as an experienced videographer moving to the DSLR world I already knew most everything in the book. As a book for the new videographer it rocks. There is really a lot there to learn from the book. Every video noob needs this book for sure! But, if you already know how to light, block, compose and are simply transitioning from a traditional video camera to a DSLR don't bother with the book.
What I need to learn are the specific functions of my new DSLR and how it reacts differently than a traditional video camera. There is some of that in the book but nothing that I can't get from the owners manual and a few days of playing with the settings. Where I am a noob is with the stills settings and getting nice pictures. I think a stills related book is more of what I need.
For what it is, this book is super well done. Mad props to the authors. I hope you guys make a ton of money from your efforts. Just know that it is geared to the stills photog transitioning to video just as the title says.
cheers
Kevin
