From 5.1 to 6

I have Final Cut Studio 5.1 and the 6.0 version has looked attractive for quite a while and I want to make the switch. Thing is I'm just starting to cut my feature film on 5.1. Should I worry about making a switch? It shouldn't be complicated IMO but I can't be sure. Anyone think its a terrible idea?

I need to do some organizing anyways before I move into getting well done cuts of the film finished. The post-audio features in the new final cut look great and Color really interests me.

I was in the middle of a project when I upgraded, and didn't experience any issues. Once you open the project in the new version and save it the first time, you won't be able to open it again in the older version, so you should make a backup of your project before any potential upgrades.

Good luck!

Another little known fact is if you just rename Final Cut 5.1 before updating, something like OLD Final Cut, the installer will leave it on your hard drive and you can still use both versions. I still have FCP back to 4.5, as you never know when you'll need it.
