From 30f SD to 24f HD

We have the several new Nitris Symphonies and are becomming frustrated trying to go from Sd to HD. We have to deliver spots in SD 30f and the same spot in 24f HD. So far, the only way we've been able to do it is edl conversion which loses all the effrects and is never accurate. Any help and insight is greatly appreciated.

Oh, man . . . one thing you don't want to do is try and convert 30p (or 30f) to 24p (or 24f). And uprezzing at the same time? I can't imagine a good result from this.

Your best bet is to shoot 24f in HD and then downconvert.

I know that doesn't help you with your Avid question, but it just seems like a train wreck waiting to happen.
 
Iin a perfect world....... I do movie trailers and tv campaigns so we take what they give us and make it work. We get spots from vendors who edit FCP or Avid and are usually given 3/4s or beta sp sources before the feature is finished so you can the the wreck happening righ before your eyes.
