OTHER: Freshman Cinematography Reel

Commenting on the reel itself, the music quickly became too repetitive, and then outright confusing around the 1 minute mark. It completely pulled me away from the film material. It also seemed too long, but that may have been due to the music.

There are a couple of shots in the reel that detract from it and should be removed. If a shot isn't lit well or has areas that suffer, it is usually a better idea to just cut it out. A reel with only a few, but stellar shots is better than a reel with plenty of half-decent shots.

This may have been your intent, but it seems half of the shots are overly contrasted and saturated, while the others are very flat and soft. If unintended, that would be an area to improve on in the future. The outside scenes could have been lit better as well.

I like how diverse the shots were and thought plenty of them were great. I'm telling you some criticisms for improvement's sake, but you do have some good stuff here. Keep it up!

'Cinematography'

Well the shot that uses the camera intelligently is the one that reveals the third character as the second leaves.

So open with it.

Generally Id chop the reel down, specifically losing the first three shots.

I completely agree honestly.

I pretty much just put this together to show some of the stuff I did throughout my first year at school.

Thanks for all of your input!

Color Correction and lighting are definitely something I want to improve on.

I appreciate you guys actually telling me what you don't like and how I can improve on it rather than just saying something is decent. I'd rather hear the truth so that I can improve for future projects.
