This is my friends movie I've been working on. It's some what a stylized film. I'm teaching them how to CC and rotoscope. Rotoscoping is a ***** but I ain't the one doing it.   ;D

oh by the way, this is their first movie ever. So give them a break if you don't like it the way it looks.

Some nice grabs here spider! Great colors, nice framing too.
Last one looks a bit blown out though..

I totally agree. That's what I told them as we were editing the footage. The DP is still learning, she's still new to the camera. I put the last grab anyway because I want them to read what people will say.

Thanks for the compliment soliton. :)

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

Those are some nice grabs, quite good for their first film. I also agree about the last grab, and with givemefood :)

Spidey,

The 3rd frame, with the pink flower... how did u do that? It's very pretty.

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

givemefood, I don't know if it's the same, but PK did a similar thing in his Coldplay video. He said he had two layers in after effects (B&W on the top, Colour on the bottom) and he just cut the object he wanted colour out of the B&W layer on every frame to do that effect.

But this might not be the case in this movie

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

hmmm... so i'll have to learn AE for that. I really want to just write and direct... but im spending most of my time learning to film and edit.

Thanks

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

Yeah, I've never done it myself so there may be another way to do it (besides doing in in Photoshop). If there is, someone else will surely let you know

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

rotoscoping, is hard sometimes speically when you just want to change on color and not the rest of the other colors. now try that.

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

These are very nice grabs!! :)
I especially like the one of the orchard off the side of the road, it's a perfect shot framing wise and looks gorgeous even though the sun wasn't on your side that day.

very nice,

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

i actually like the last one best and i like the fact that the highlights are slightly blown out......the color tone and framing are great and I like the deep black (of his hair) while still maintaining shadow detail.

Re: Fresh off the digital press! Screen Grabs.

same the last grab looks awesome! I love the contrast and color...feels very bad boys II :)

Rotoscoping in AE. Same thing what Mike E said. Simple but very time consuming.

Thanks
