Free software to watch .MTS files with timecode

I'm in preproduction for a project that will be in a language that I don't speak (Mandarin Chinese). It will be interview format. I'll be working closely with someone on it who is a native speaker. I plan to give her all of the footage and then let her give me the timecode for good clips and tell me the order they should be in. I just checked M Player X (my preferred for playing native files outside of an editing suite) and VLC, and neither seem to give timecode, just individual clip time. So is there anything free or inexpensive ($10 or so) that will work? I could always get her to just get the 30 day trial of Premiere, but it would be easier for her if we could do it this way. Thanks!

If you don't have masses of material, you could always run it through your NLE (assuming you're using Prem Pro), add a Burnt in Timecode filter and export to whatever codec you want to give her. It also allows you to cut down/top and tail some of the material prior to handing it over. I do this when creating clips for transcription.

Ben.

Ah, that's a great idea, Ben! I got stuck on one solution and missed the easier one. Thanks!
