FrameRateHack and Lightning

I know I have been absent for some time, I thought would capture a storm coming in and thought I would see how the FrameRateHack would do with Lighting (now this was just to see what can be captures at a 350d. So Anyways. Now I wish I had more than this. But of course FrameRateHack :) 60fps will be my next test, when the next storm rolls in :)

It was the Frame Rack Hack so 2fps @ 350d. So it is just a single frame. Lighting was far inbetween. It was just a test, but got a good frame, and a whoppin 6 mins from my life :) The next storm will be tomorrow, I will catch some 60FPS action - Hopefully :)

So this is a 1/2 second exposure? Does the 350d only add a half stop? I'm sounding like a newbie, but a lot of people still don't know much about the hack.

I've had great luck using the pre-record mode on the HVX. Set it, when you see a lightning flash hit the record button and it dumps the previous few seconds to the P2 card and you never miss a lightning flash.

Hey Prodigy, 350d is the shutter angle. By default it's set to 180. N8ture, smart thinking. We havn't heard much about the pre rec feature being used.

hey guys, Sorry about that. I have been busy.

d=Degrees. If you take a full cirlce pie chart it would be 360degree.So the remander 10Degrees is what is rotating allow more light in. Just light a film camera, except ours is digital, not mechanical.

I know Kevin uses Pre-Rec. on all if not most of his shoots, with his amazing footage, can you imagine if he was 1 seconds too late? My shoot was not to get great fooage, (of course I was hoping for) But rather just to test. If I were using 60fps, PRE-REC would then be beneficial.

As for Expousre, I dont know I would say I have never looked at it that way, but Good question. I have always looked at it like this: 350d take light holds it over multi frames until the light is out of sight from the iris. (if that makes sense)

i gotta get into Prerecord.....

Yea i cant live without the Frerate hack nowadays..... im like literally making my living off of it.

The flash is looking Cool. I would love to see it in Realite. flickering like crazy.

Still looks nice does the dvx have pre-rec?

Since I don't use the hack, they started calling me wack, which I guess makes me a bit of a sad sack. I started to fight back, got a boot to the crack, now I'm locally known as the dogcat . (how much are those sd cards anyways?)

SD cards are like 5 dollars for a 48mb or whatever. I bought a 2 gig for 30bucks. It is the well known brand. I use it in my Treo 700p. I use like a 48 or what not in the HVX, it is WAY PLENTY enought for TXT files :)
