Framerate New VLC

Greetings,
Just tried the new hack for 1080p @ 38-40-and 42. This is running very stable using a SanDisk Extreme Class 10 - 8 gig card.
Much improved look and I love the native 24.
I just downloaded the new VLC 1.1 and happen to be watching some of my test files on my older secondary computer and the new 1.1 plays the .mts files perfect, where the older version of VLC would stutter a little. Just happened to look at the media info while playing and the frame-rate is listed at 47.942496 which is 2x the 23.971 that I had read about here in a posting.
Oddly enough, importing into CS5 the properties show 23.976 as it should, and using a Black Magic sequence preset it plays flawlessly in real time out to all monitors.
No complaints, just wondering where this odd frame-rate comes from.
Last but not least, I know this has been discussed about the film look quite a lot, and I totally understand the 7 second rule of panning. When viewing on either of my 21" monitors the strobing looks quite natural and pleasing, but when I am outputting to my 37" Samsung via CS5 and my Deck-link HD Extreme card, the strobing doesn't seem as natural and has a very pronounced brightness flicker that is accompanying it. I have tried 50 and 60 for shutter speeds. Not a huge difference.
I haven't shot a lot of 24 frame because of the older codec weakness and I have yet to burn a Blu-ray with the new settings, but I will try to this upcoming week. Still have a lot of testing to do this week to see if it is related to anything else.
I checked the Samsung site for a Firmware update but none available. It is a 60hz display. It happened before using Cineform with pulldown removed. Just curious if anyone else had a similar experience.
Thanks

That's good to hear, as VLC 1.0.5 had major problems with AVCHD playback. Regarding 23.971 fps, please take a look at the following thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=214800&highlight=23.971
In short, files produced with native patch have 23.971 fps at low level. Some NLEs deal better than others with this odd rate. Current topic of inquiry is whether there are audio sync issues over a long shoot.
