frame rates below 12fps, can it be done?

i hear via a varicam shooter that the HVX can do frame rates less than 12fps.

allegedly you create a scene settings text file, on your computer, using the frame rate you wish to use (they have to be in even increments, i.e., 4, 6, 8fps) and then save it on an SD card and viola! the lower frame rate is there. is this true?

the other questions are:

has anyone done this?

will this create a technical (or even a warranty) problem for the HVX?

thoughts?

also, i searched the forums and i didn't find anything new on this.

yeah. there is a real long thread about it. maybe try a search for "frame rate hack" The thread was started by Barry. It has all the info about how to do it there. Check it out. there are 36 framerate options I believe, from 2 to 60fps in 720pn mode
:)

* the thread is titled :
"want some more frame rates?"

:) the search is definitely a bit of an acquired skill in my opinion. I still suck at it. I can find stuff that I have read before but bad at finding most everything else :)
Take care,

...and if you get the search terms wrong, you can't search again for 60 seconds to keep the board from getting bogged down in a DoS attack.

It's really easy all you need is an SD card reader and a text editor to alter some code on the card to fool that camera's default settings.
I'll dig up the code for you if you like.
It won't hurt your camera but can make things like iris act a little crazy and delayed at 2fsp.
PS footage looks amazing at 2fps, really amazing light streaks with a slow shutter speed.

Hey Richard,
Unfortunatly I'm in pal land and on mac so i'm waiting for the 720p codec to appear some time in october we hope.
