Frame rate hack

Hi! Sorry for asking questions that I'm sure have been dealt with before (dvxuser search is currently returning me a string of gibberish; not sure why).

1. Is there any reason you can't overcrank/undercrank when you're shooting in 1080 mode on an HVX or HPX?

2. Also, is there any particular reason not to use the frame rate hack? What bad things could happen?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you all for your wisdom.

1. It just doesn't do it. Recording format doesn't support it. NTSC users can get a very mild overcrank, using 30p in a 24p project, but that's it.

2. We don't know what bad things might happen, but in 4 years so far, I don't think anyone has ever reported any negative effects. If something bad *did* happen, you would probably lose warranty coverage, so we've always advised that you use it at your own risk. But with that said, again, I don't think I've ever heard any reports from anyone that they've ever damaged their camera or gotten grainy footage or ... anything.

I've used the frame rate hack multiple times for particular artistic effects and my HVX still runs like a Swiss watch (the genuine kind - not those cheap knock offs lol).
