Frame rate confusion

Ok, first day testing and i'm running default c-settings without problems. But footage is 30 fps in 1080p... is that even possible? I thought 1080 was always 24p wrapped?

However, playback in wmp *looks* like it would be 24p... and playback in vlc looks like it's 30i... wtf? Confusion.

Because your 24p footage is in 60i wrapper, i.e. 60 fields per second, most players will translate that as 30 frames per second, because two fields are combined into 1 frame.
 
....Sooo pulldown is a normal procedure and has always been on GH1 (hack or not), or what? All programs sais 30i so that's what the footage is... this is totally confusing, i thought GH1 always had 24p?

...and again putting it in a 24fps project goes FUBAR, footage is 30i... is this 5D all over again ?
 
You have to remove pulldown on 1080p footage because the 24 frames are inside a 60i wrapper and if you just load it into a timeline; its 29.97 frames with interlacing. Just remove pulldown and you'll get the 24p. It's normal on gh1 unless you use the hack which has a selection of native 24p
 
Wow, i had totally missed this. A minor punch in the face but i guess quality footage comes to a price... hmm AF100 looks even more tasty now
