I guess it's a taste thing...here's my take.
EDIT: darnit...image keeps getting lifted for some reason when I save.
Nice grade, Bruce! What did you use? Resolve?
My take on it

Hahaha! Awesome. That movie keeps popping up all over the place. We get emails from High School students that have watched it in Spanish class (and some even made fan films based on it!) I'm very happy with everything about it, except I wish we had been better at the cinematography and color grading. That's the one thing I would change about the whole process. We had never made a movie before, so it was all a big film school for us. And learning about being a DoP was part of it. I keep thinking how much better the movie would have looked if it had been shot on X or Y camera, instead of MiniDV on a DVX100. But, then, if we had waited for the "next big thing" in digital cameras, we'd never have shot it. But it's nice to know that it's still out there on store shelves! Thanks Jaime! BTW, I saw Casi Casi the other day in a local video rental place and excitedly pointed it out to my friends. I was like - "AWESOME! Fellow REDuser / DVXuser Jaime is conquering the world..." and their response was something to the effect of "are you in a cult or something?"
Grade was done in After Effects. I love Resolve because it is great for isolating colors and changing them (and workflow and speed and... everything- but I wanted to see what could be done without any stuff like that - eg no secondaries... just grading applied to all of the colors. Worked out OK - I only had to cheat on the skin tones for the shoulders.
Also I like to put a slight blur on highlights and although Resolve has a blur / sharpen / mist thing... it is a little confusing to me. Plus I wanted to be able to apply Neat Video in one step in the middle of the grade, which would have been a separate step in Resolve. Ah man, they really need to add OFX plugins to Resolve...
If I were doing more than a still, I would jump straight into Resolve - yes.
