these kids are probably gonna be famous one day. did a bunch of interviews with up and coming actors for an industry piece. going from reds and 5d's to this… it's f-ing amazing.

one thing though. used the hyper deck for this, and the first clip (ala "capture0000") on the 3rd SSD of the day ended up only 9kb…. and was corrupt? so we lost one of the interviews.. should have been around 13gb. i'm really paranoid about the hyperdeck now.. any thoughts on this guys?

80-200mm nikon 2.8 @ f/4. focus was ball park and used film convert really quick on these grabs. not the final grade ;)

DAT COLOUR YO!

That sounds like the hyperdeck didn't start recording properly, my cinedeck does a similar thing but does let you know.

Bad news though, you'll never be able to go back to a 5D now :)

and here is a more punchy look with a touch of sharpening :)

Looks very tidy to me.

The F35, like all of Sony's proper cameras, has a frightening ability to get skin tones absolutely bang-on, regardless of lighting.

I've had 4 hyperdecks and never lost a shot.
I've had dropped frames when signal is lost due to bad connection on the stupid mini BnC connector. But the recorder keeps shooting which is good.

I agree the Hyperdeck is solid. I've shot hundreds of clips with no problem unless the sdi cable was getting tugged, but like Macgregor says, it keeps recording.

Most recorders mess up if you eject the disc improperly. The Hyperdeck does not have an eject button but it does need to be light up green on the stop button to pull a drive out. Record for a long clip and press stop and it will take a few secs to light up. Perhaps you stopped recording and pulled the drive too quickly? Also if a drive is pulled during playback it might mess up a clip.

Update the firmware to the newest version through the usb port and the blackmagic website. It sucks to loose footage and is easy to quickly loose faith in a system from the experience.

Who did your nikon conversion? Looks great on this older lens!

Quite nice and rich. Yum!

Sorry about the lost interview, though. If it were my luck it would be THAT person who goes on to be mega famous. heh
