Frame Captures from feature film

Hey folks,

sorry, i've been crazy busy (like a bumbling bumblebee). Avatuar, I did get your message, and yes, I'd like to talk to you further about stuff. I'm a bit overwhelmed right now, but I'll reply soon. Thanks for some of the support there guys, we have a bit more to shoot, but things are looking pretty decent. We may be supplementing the DVX, Varicam, and XL-2 footage with some SDX-900 stuff too oddly enough, because our line producer wants to shoot the remaining week on it, so we'll probably do B camera on the DVX again, and still more stuff with the DVX... I guess it's turning into a 24p 2:33:2 pulldown mixorama, which should yield some interesting results.

Anyhow, here's another coupla' pics... the first one is the original banner poster art I had Dame Darcy create for the movie, the next ones are just more stills...

Anyhow... hopefully we'll have some more screen captures in the coming month... we've gotta get all of last scheduling down to shoot our last week or so at Lacey Street Studios downtown, and then... yipes, hopefully we'll be closer to done.

Thanks again.

Best,

R

Very nice. My monitors are calibrated for NTSC and many of the images do look a bit dark though... IMHO

Yipes... i'm so sorry i've been out of the loop a little. We're definitely shooting for a week over at Lacy at the very beginning of next month, and then the week after in three practical locations in and around Hollywood and the hills. It's been nuts lately, so I apologize for not answering some of them P.M.s... I frickin' promise to get to it pronto...

Oh, and it looks like the rest is for sure gonna be shot with P+S Technik adapter. Our new DP is a fellow named Mark Mervis, and he's fantasitc. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0581670/

Hopefully everything will work out, and the entire production will FINALLY wrap by the end of June at the latest.

Wishing you the best,

Ramzi

P.S. Some new screen grabs with Lloyd, Julie, and some other stuff is comin' up.

Thanks Day...

Here's a short (shot on Super 16mm) that I directed back in '97 (it's shown at some festivals including the Santa Monica Film Festival, Slamdance, Freaky Film Festival, Fort Worth Film Festival, et al)... and I just watched it again recently realizing that online it looks no different from stuff shot on the DVX.

Actually come to think of it, even off of the Beta SP and vhs copies I still have of it (i also have one 16mm print, but i don't own a projector obviously)... it looks like DVX stuff regardless. Again, a testimony to how much like film the DVX's output can be.

Hope you like it... again, it's my first short, so it's a bit rough, and the streaming sucks... and it's Real Player... ok, enough excuses.

It's called "NOBODY" : http://film1.shorttv.com/ShortTV/Films/film.asp?back=yes&filmID=203

Best Wishes,

Ramzi

P.S. I forgot to mention this (so i put it back in)... this film had some amazing crew people on it, some of whom have done some neat things... our makeup artist, Elisabeth Fry went on to become pretty huge (working on stuff like "crazy in alabama", "cecil b. demented", and "sin city"), as well as Sean, our camera op. who also did "He Got Game" and "Once Upon A Time In Mexico"... the weirdest one though is Paola Cresti, who I had no idea had DP'ed a short for Richard Kelly... anyhow, my point is... it's a small world!
