Fragmented clips

A little backstory... I shot this wedding over a year ago. The files have been sitting on a hard drive the whole time. Now when Its time to finally get to it. Some of my files are missing. When I view those directories in the clip browser some of the clips have a gray X over them and the clip is blacked out. The clip says its there, there's a place holder for the clip showing it once was there. Where did it go and more importantly what can I do to repair or retrieve it? Has anyone experienced this???
