FPN in the EVF?

My GH1 usefully shows its FPN (Fixed Pattern Noise / vertical bands) in the electronic viewfinder. It actually shows more than appears on footage, and it does clearly show the few nasty, stubborn streaks that do appear on footage most of the time - including on well lit areas at 100ISO.

I'm curious to know what other GH1 users see. Do cameras with little or no FPN problem show little or no FPN in the viewfinder? Do other badly afflicted cameras reveal the issue in their EVFs, as mine does?

Note that you need to ensure the diopter adjustment is spot on for your eyesight in order to see this effect clearly. The FPN will show most easily under the same circumstances it afflicts footage - slight to moderate underexposure of low detail.

This information could be useful for those, like myself, looking for a GH1(3) without the dreaded FPN.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the ingenius workaround in that thread doesn't effect the evil FPN in my GH1 that is essentially there all the time at any ISO. Overexposure can drown it out and detail can hide it, but without those it's there ruining the image. This camera is a right off.

Having decided to move on, I'm looking for ways to avoid buying another pup. I'm curious to know if the EVF can tell me a camera is a good 'un if I don't see any FPN at ISO 100.

I could just buy a GH2 and be FPN free, of course, but I've formed the impression a that good GH13 is a better video camera.
