GH3 FOV Question

Hello everybody. I had a few questions regarding FOV in regards to the Gh3 and also in general. Now the Gh3 crops to 2.0. Butthat crop is a reference to full frame. Why do i need to refer to full frame. We are using the Gh3 as motion picture camera but with fov we compare full frame. Why dont we compare to s35. Isnt that always has been the gold standard. When Mr. Deakins say that he likes 32mm on s35, he is talking about approx 50mm on full frame. Why cant we compare gh3 fov with s35? If i want 28mm on gh3 why do i need a 14mm. To match it to s35 i need a 20mm. If i come from film bacoground and check the internet for gh3 fov because i am interested in it, i find that it has twice the fov. But that is to full frame. Help me in this regard. If i want to buy lens for gh3 should i consider fov in regards to full frame or s35. And why full frame if full frame? Thank you.

The comparison to full frame still 35mm is probably because most come from a still photography background and full frame 35mm still film is a frame of reference we understand best.

28mm used to be a "workhorse" wide angle for me on the Nikon F2 and F3 so I can easily understand having to use a 14mm focal length on the GH series to get the same FOV.

But Bruce, if I am coming from motion picture and generally like Super35 Crop and I liked the 28mm and 35mm, then on Gh I do not need 14mm and 17mm. I would probably need 20mm and 25mm because that is the equivilant to Super35. But what I understand from what you've written and what I like what you said is, go for what you are comfortable. You came from full frame background and compare FOV to it and I like Super35 so I can go for that. Is that right?
