I grabbed a 27MB MXF file from the P2 card and loaded it up into DROPBOX. Let me know if you can or can't see it. It's a real short clip probably from starting and stopping the camera accidentally.

Hi, is this from the prototype model ? i see that it is probably shoot at 2 fps, can you post a 24fps footage, so we can see how it handle the noise from one frame to another. Thanks !

I tried to grade it, color space is good, but footage is soooo blocky !
clip duration is 2'15 for 27mb only ?! a real AVC Intra 100 would produce a 40-42 Mb clip for this duration. Where is the mistake ?

Thanks for the clips. I wanted to see how they played back on an Edius 5.5 timeline in hopes that I would not have to upgrade my NLE software if I get the HPX250. They play fine.

"I don't understand the difference, both are MXF." uh, a difference of about $32k in original list prices...ha ha ha. But seriously, MXF is MXF - I think there was something seriously funky with that first clip.

Yeah, i know for the 32k$. ( 2/3' CCD shoulder mounted ! almost for 20k in the difference ) but i think that AVCIntra 100 is a standard and the bitrates must be similar (?!) from one model to an other. am i wright ?
 
Sorry about that bad clip. I just grabbed the smallest one and apparently it was all blown out and under cranked. Try this. 89MB outdoor shot from a tripod.

But this sounds like it will be one fantastic camera. 10-bit, 100mbps, 4:2:2 in a camera for about 6 grand? Amazing.

You are interested in the camera. That is different. I'm talking about those who have no interest and then posts ludicrous comparisons to cameras meant for different jobs/markets. I get the broke part. Lot's of people like that.

I feel like if they somehow managed to fuse the AF100 for its ability to take lenses and still be a video camera and combine it with the color space, P2 option, and different codec options of the HPX250, that Panasonic would really have a hell of a camera on their product list. Even if it costs like 5 to 7 grand...it's worth it..

AF170, AF200???

That's exactly what I said - and you know what, here's a really ridiculous suggestion but I think a camera with the following would probably cost in excess of $15K but I'd buy it - All the features of the AF100, all the features of the HPX250 - i.e interchangeable sensors!!!! lol, avc intra and that Canon XL1 type detachable lens for that long zoom 20-someting-600mm lol! ability to use your primes when you need to. Small sensor for ENG work at the flip of a switch, and big sensor when you need shallow DOF in narrative work. On top of that - hyper-ridiculous, throw in iPhone 4S voice commands. It sounds ridiculous but were I an engineer, I'd probably make one! Anyone want one?? "No one camera can do everything well" is simply a marketing ploy masquerading as a maxim. The goal is to keep us buying cameras for as long as we live. For instance I heard despite the passing of Steve Jobs, they've got product plans in place for ten years. iPhone 9s4sexy is hiding away somewhere. Well, on the AF-what-hundred issue, I'm a willing slave as long as the toys make me happy AND are within my wallet's reach!

I must say though, Sony has panasonic beat when it comes to Wedding receptions. Panasonic is useless in dim receptions. I'm yet to see a good panasonic low-light reception. I wonder how this 250 does.
 
It's interesting, I thought when we added two AF100's to our inventory that the small sensor cameras would not be very popular for rental any longer, or our 2/3" cameras, for that matter. Reality is that our HPX170, EX1, HPX2700 cameras are doing just fine. So we added an HPX250 and it's already working and getting positive reviews. Of course, most of our rental business is corporate based, where the HPX250 can really pay dividends in green screen work and the flexibility of its 22x lens can make it useful for back of the room, B-roll, and documentary work.

Extreme low light capability has never been of much importance except for indie filmmakers and event video clients. I think the HPX250 will tick a lot of boxes for our corporate clients. It will be a good B camera to our HPX2700, offering AVC-Intra 100 and a better DSP.
