Oh hell no man! You could get a brand new DVX100B for 2.5 gran. I wouldn't pay more than 1.2k for that. Go check out ebay or pricegrabber for a rough gauge of what they're selling used DVXs for. 2k is a definate no-no for me.
It is not that bad of a deal. Even though those hours are higher than most I've seen for sale, the hours don't matter as much as the useage and treatment of the camera. That 599 hours could be all studio use with tapes never being run through the heads. I bought mine with 125 hours on it. When I went to pick it up it was still set up for studio use and the camera looked brand spanking new. I've only put a few more hours on it to test my DIY 35mm adapter.
The DVX100 counts hours whether you're recording on the heads or not, so you can get a camera with 600 that is in top condition or you can get a camera with 10 hours on it that was used for beach shoots near sand and wind or dessert shoots with a lot of dust and that camera could be crap.
By the way, I might be selling mine to move to the HVX200.
I would pay that much for 600 hours even if it was studio use. If it wasn't treated good I would buy it at all. I wouldn't go over 1600 for that many head hours.
Haha, yeah but I need the dough. Believ me if there was anyway I would keep it ... myabe with the 8 gig rebate I can still hold on to it, but probably not. I might donate it if I could afford to, knowing it would go to a good home etc., but more than likely I would keep it to do light lifting and keep the hours down on the HVX.
JDS how about DVX members pitch in a dollar to a BPAY account (well those that want to) tally up until we reach your required sale price - prestated of course. Then lets have a DVXUser camera auction for this famous little cam, proceeds to ISARA.
