First time poster, long time reader. Quick observation/questions for you. About a week ago I purchased a fotodiox G to M 4/3 adapter and when I attach the Sigma 24-70 2.8 the lens seems to lose a stop. Is this a reported problem? Is there a fix? Thanks for the help.

I don't have that adapter, but I assume there are no optics in it, right? If there aren't any optics, you shouldn't be loosing a stop of light. Shouldn't is the key word.

How are you figuring that you're losing light? Did you compare it to a m43 lens at 2.8 & see that it is darker?

Is the adapter physically closing the iris or blocking it from opening up all the way? I believe that adapter has the ability to open & close the iris with a little ring, right? Is it all the way open & you're still losing light?

I'm just guessing at things. Any of that help?

There are no optics in the adapter.

I do not own any m43 glass except for the kit 14-140. However, I did compare the sigma to a Nikkor 50 1.4 ai. In order to do that I set the Sigma at 50 and opened the adapter's iris ring all the way. Then from the same FOV I took the nikkor and set the lens to f/2.8. There was quite a bit more light let into the Nikkor. To get the exposures to match I stopped the Nikkor down to f/4.

Now that I'm thinking about the issue, it did seem like there could be more give on the G adapter (as far as letting more light in). So, the adapter could be blocking the lens from opening all the way.

I have a Nikkor 35mm f/2 lens that only opens up to a f/2.8 when it is on my Canon 7D. As best I can tell there is something that gets in the way to prevent opening up the iris all the way. Maybe similar thing? But that would be disapointing since there is no way the lens is hitting the camera & it would have to be something with the adapter, if there is something that is blocking.

Maybe the pin that controls the aperture doesn't have enough room to fully open the lens. None the less, thanks for the 2 cents.
