I have a Fotodiox Fusion EF adapter with built-in ND. I love the ND, but the adapter is unusable with my Zeiss ZE 35 (the only EF mount lens I have now) because it randomly disconnects with the camera, causing video recording to stop.
For some strange reason, on a fully charged battery, everything seems to work fine, and I've recorded up to 30 minutes. But once the battery starts to drain a bit, the problems start. When the battery is low (like 30%), disconnects happen more quickly, and the camera goes even crazier, simply freezing and requiring me to remove and reinsert the battery to return to life.
I'd thought that the adapter contacts were just of poor quality or not made to spec, but it seems that the problem is not with the physical fit, but with power. If I had to speculate I'd say that power supply to the lens sometimes falls below what the lens needs. Has anyone had similar problems with their adapters? Do the Metabones ones do this too?
(When I adapted non-EF lenses and manual lenses everything works just fine).
I've invested in a couple of ZE lenses and really want to make this work. At least I want to find out the root cause. I'm using stock Sony batteries. Would external power solve this?
