Okay some oen explain to me that new comercial playing in AMC theatres where forrest whitaker is talking to crowd and saying random stuff about "how we can make a change" then the spanish ladies phone rings. I mean what the hell does forrest whitaker have to do with this?

By the way I dont know how to spell his name.

Hahahaha. I have absolutely no idea what the deal is with that spot. It's the second in what I presume will be a "turn your cell phone off" series with famous folks. The first, which you may have seen, featured Sydney Pollack:

[from the press release] The scene opens with a man in the midst of conducting a personal phone call. Pollack then
appears with script in hand, providing stage direction to the caller, who is clearly annoyed
that the filmmaker has disturbed him.

"Oh, I'm sorry – is my directing interfering with your phone call?" asks Pollack, with more
than a hint of sarcasm. "How rude of me!"

The trailer concludes with the following message: We won't interrupt your phone calls.
Please don't interrupt our movies. Silence your cell phones. [/press release]

I really liked that one. But the one with Forest is just weird.

Whoever wrote that spot is an idiot, but the message is that a crowd of people have gathered to hear what Forrest has to say and this woman's phone has interrupted and distracted the crowd. She is embarrassed and turns off the phone because she doesn't want to be a loco punta anymore.

What sucks is that people think that if their phone doesn't RING that it's still okay to use it... the guy next to me at my last visit was texting back and forth... and the light from his phone display was plenty good enough to pull me out of the movie... One of these days I'm going to snap in one of these situations and you'll see me giving the thumbs up on the evening news. That'll be our little inside joke.

I feel with you. It is even worse when they think that others can't hear their vibrating phone.
