Formatting P2 drive to work with Mac? Mac won't see drive?

Hey all- In an effort to get my Mac to recognize the P2 store I've followed these steps:

"To change compatibility mode between Mac and Windows: 1. Connect USB cable between P2 store and Mac or PC, and then turn on P2 store. 2. Make sure USB LED (D) lights. 3. Press CANCEL button (A), Battery level indicator button (B) and HDD capacity indicator button (C) simultaneously for more than five seconds. 4. The color of USB LED (D) is orange for Mac, green for Windows. NOTE : If you follow the instructions in order, the P2 store will not change modes correctly. The correct sequence is to first press and hold the HDD Capacity ( C ) and Cancel buttons (A), THEN add the Battery Check Button (B), now hold all three buttons for 5 seconds, the mode will change reliably from PC to Mac or back to PC. Doing the procedure in alphabetical order will produce hit-and-miss results. As mentioned in the note, it is necessary to connect a USB 2.0 cable to the computer or the USB mode LED will not light and you will not know which mode you have selected."

I'm running OSX 10.4.6 and Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 with Quicktime 7. I've installed current P2 drivers. Still nothing.

On the P2 drive the "E3" button on top of the unit is solid RED. On the front of the P2 drive the "P2C" button is solid green, the "100%" button is solid RED. No matter what I do these lights remain the same. I've power cycled the P2 drive... tried different USB cords... still nothing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Michael

Just received my P2 Store yesterday. Also had problem getting it to cycle to Mac mode. I'm not sure of the exact procedure when it worked... but it did finally switch modes. Did you try the procedure without it being connected? It appears that the device doesn't follow the manual exactly... at least not for me.

I'm also having problems with download times at 720PN24. It's taking an hour to load into FCP. And I had to re-format my P2 Card after formatting it with the Store. The camera had a record problem... worked fine after reformat in camera.

If it's taking an hour to transfer a 4gb card, that means you're probably transferring at USB1 speeds, and not USB2 speeds.

What ended up being the problem in my situation was very odd. As I was about to give up and chalk the whole experience up as a faulty P2 Store I decided to try using the battery instead of the power adapter. As soon as I did the P2 store did exactly what it was supposed too.
When using the power adapter, although it was "on", it was frozen.
I'm going to get a new adapter and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise perhaps it was the jack on the back of the P2 or ?? Very odd.

Anyone else experience this?

Thanks,
Michael

Thats odd...When I first used the P2 Store it mounted itself to my powerbook's desktop instantly.

EDIT: Ah, I just read your conclusion. I was using the battery as well, I never tried using the AC.
