formatting P2 cards on a mac

nevermind. it seems like using P2CMS for mac, loading up the card, select all (clips) and delete seems to work.

anyone have any problems using this workflow for continuous shooting?

I'd use the P2Format software anyway to be sure you are really reformatting the card to a known good state after every use. Other advantages of doing it like that include being able to name your cards with easy to remember names, and having a display show you how much use you still have left on your E-series cards.

The latest version of P2Format definitely DOES work over USB on Mac systems.

This is good to know, as there have been times when being able to format in the computer would be a good thing. Does it work on newer versions of OSX? Say Lion or Mountain Lion?

Newest OS I've used it on is Snow Leopard, most of my work Macs still have SL because of some older plugins I use. I have a Mountain Lion system on one of the laptops, so I'll have to give that a try. Some quick searching around suggests P2 still works on Mountain Lion over USB, the Panasonic Mac driver download page shows it has been updated to support Lion, but does not specifically mention Mountain Lion. Usually when something is known NOT to work it will be listed on that page. Here it is for reference:

No drivers exist yet for Mountain Lion (10.8), at least on the 5-bay readers and the formating software doesn't currently run under Mountain Lion (it can't work with the older drivers for Lion). I've been told about a month ago that they're working on it and sent/received email again last night. It'd be really helpful to have my 5-bay card reader running again. But at this time, my understanding is that Mountain Lion isn't supported for drivers (yet?).

I can only get it to reformat on SL with my PCD-35. App opens and crashes with Lion and P2 card inserted. I've installed all the drivers available. Can't test on my PCD-2 because the USB ports went out on me.
