Format Matte Box - Hvx 200

Hi All

I reside in the UK and have just taken receipt of my PAL HVX200 yesterday - what a sweetie! I also bought 2 4GB P2 Cards. I was really surprised to receive with it, a form to claim a free Kata Case and High Capacity battery - great deal!

I bought the camera from iFrame Media and gave them a call to discuss a couple of technical queries, as I have used them before when I bought my DVX100. I must admit, I was really impressed with the guy I spoke to, he spent at least an hour on the phone with me and was happy to give me some help and additional tips on using the camera.

While on the phone they offered me a Format Matte Box for £150 which sounds like a very good deal - has anyone bought one of these boxes and would it be a worthwhile purchase?

We've got two that we bought for our PD150s and there's good and bad:
The good: They'll fit most cameras as they mount onto the lens and you can get rings to fit almost any lens.
The bad: The lens takes all the load. Also you need to check the spacing between the matte box and other things on the camera as there's very little space between the matte box and the front of the camera. Unless someone here has tried this box on the HVX 200 I'd seriously suggest you take your camera along and try the combo out. It might be perfect or a real problemo.

Also be careful, on the ones we have the screws that hold the french flag to the hinge need more strain relief, we've had one where the carbon fibre has cracked where the screw goes through. Easily done if you have the tension set high and forget to slack it of before moving the flag.
